50 years of Hargrave Chambers...

 

1964

The Wollongong Bar was established by Jack Geddes.  

He was closely followed by Allen Hogan, Joe Phelan, Michael Lynch and Stuart Hill.

 

1987

Joe Phelan was appointed to the District Court Bench.

There were two sets of Chambers in Wollongong, namely Regency Court and Grenville Chambers.

1990

Members of those two Chambers (Stuart Hill, Stephen Longhurst, William Dalley Roger Spain and Andrew Haesler of Grenville Chambers and Nicholas Canosa and Terrence McGill of Regency Court Chambers) joined forces and established Hargrave Chambers.

1996 - 2010

Over the years, a number of Barristers joined Hargrave Chambers and others left. Among those who left was Andrew Haesler who was appointed as a Public Defender in 1996 and subsequently to the District Court Bench in 2010.

2012

Hargrave Chambers moved from premises at the corner of Church and Crown Street, Wollongong to its current address at 63 Market Street, Wollongong.

2014

Hargrave Chambers current members are Stuart Hill (admitted 1976), Nicholas Canosa (admitted 1982), William Dalley (admitted 1984), John Wilson (admitted 1989) and Melissa Humphreys (admitted 2007).
