Melissa Humphreys is a Barrister of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. Melissa was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 18 February 2005; obtained a practising certificate as a barrister on 3 September 2007; and was registered as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Australia, entitled to practise as a barrister in any federal court, on 18 January 2008.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wollongong, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Wollongong. Melissa is a long-term resident of the Illawarra and a proud alumni of Smith's Hill Selective High School. She has ongoing engagement with the local sporting community and is enjoying raising her own family in the Illawarra. Melissa is a sessional lecturer in Evidence Law, and Advocacy, at the University of Wollongong.
Melissa's chambers is centrally located in the Wollongong central business district, one block away from the police station, Federal Circuit Court, and the Local and District Courts in Wollongong.
Melissa has a busy general practice, with an emphasis on family law and criminal law. She also appears and advises in Children's Court, succession, civil litigation, workers' compensation, and other legal disputes.
